Mating Pin to Fork

I am playing with this small toy, and I am struggling to get the final mate solved, where the pin of my tie rod rides along the inside of the fork on the head of the fish. is this a pin slot? I've never had great success with that mate type.

    Yes, that's a pin slot mate. Since it's a broken out slot, you'll need to center the mate connector on the round portion of the slot. You may also need to click the rotate option to get motion in the desired direction.

    I tried this and I get the following pop up.

    Unable to compute any steps for this animation. Unable to apply transform. Instance(s) may be constrained.

    I can't tell what exactly is going one with the document since it is view only. If you add copy permissions, I or someone else can take a better look at the mates. But I suspect you're over constraining and have unintentionally removed a necessary degree of freedom.
