What's the "category" property of versions and workspaces for?

If you right click a release, version, or workspace, you see this dropdown. What's it for, and why would anyone want to change it?

    Thanks @ilya_baran
I suppose I just didn't think of adding a whole lot of property metadata to a version, and there's only one category by default. I made a tester, and see that I could add any number of additional properties there, but I'm still not sure what I'd do with it for a version specifically. I get the point of it for parts and items. Any examples of how one might use categories usefully for a version?

    That's probably a better question for @Ram_Vangapalli or @PeteYodis
