Trouble lofting for 3D printing.

I've been tasked with making this complex shell and 3d printing it to cover a metal skeleton and the only way I can really make it is to use a surface loft but Cura doesn't like surface stl's I guess and rejects the model. Easy way is to thicken it to whatever thickness is structurally acceptable. You can't print an infinitely thin surface anyway.

Edit: or do what John suggests below - his method is better.

@Tristan_Flowers You can also enclose the surface using planes and shell afterwards.
