Configure Assembly with Multiple Configurations of a Single Part Instance?

matthew_stacymatthew_stacy Member Posts: 487 PRO
Here is a simplified example with an assembly comprised of 'base' and 'tower'.  There are two configurations of the 'base' part, rectilinear and with one edge radiused.  Can I create two corresponding assembly configurations by inserting only a SINGLE INSTANCE of this part?

Or is it necessary to insert an instance of that part for each configuration and then configure part suppression states in the assembly?

    You can use one instance and configure it. Right click on the part, hit change configuration, then right click on the configuration selector and you should be able to configure that

    @CBowers configuring a single instance of the part, as you suggest, effects both configurations of the assembly.  Does it not?  I want an two assembly configurations:
    1. Using the stock, square cornered base
    2. Using the modified base (radiused edge)
    Can that be accomplished with only a single instance of the base part in the assembly?

    @matthew_stacy,
    By "Configure", he means add the part configuration to the configuration table:

    Thank you @CBowers and @eric_pesty .  You are quite right.  I missed the procedural step of hitting the "+ Configure assembly features" button.
