Custom properties assemly related

Phillip_BPhillip_B Member Posts: 33 PRO
I hope someone can help me with the following scenario:

I want to give a part a property called "wetted part".
If this part in an assembly where it is in contact with water, it gets this property.
The same part however can also be installed in an assembly in which it is not in contact with water. So it shouldn't have this property here.

My idea is to somehow define the property at the assembly or bill of materials level to do this, but am not sure how to do this.

Has anyone already implemented something like this or has any idea?

In enterprise you can create non-CAD items and them to the BOM. Perhaps a “wetted” item added to a subassembly, when appropriate?

Alternatively, you can configure a property.

Sounds like a configured part using every thing the same (including part#) except a 'custom property' to get wet or dry value might get what you want.

A configured custom property sounds like a good way. I will try this.

    Thanks @glen_dewsbury an @S1mon
