Tutorial question - Intro to Part Design - "Feature Creation / Exercise: Extrude"

I'm just starting to get acquainted with OnShape and am working through the basic tutorials.
I'm struggling with the plane interpretation of the initial sketch because if I follow what I believe to be the exact procedure described, the second extrusion appears reversed from that shown in the tutorial.
I'm struggling with the plane interpretation of the initial sketch because if I follow what I believe to be the exact procedure described, the second extrusion appears reversed from that shown in the tutorial.
Step 1 says to begin the sketch on the Top plane, but it does not specify which quadrant.
Step 2 says to sketch a corner rectangle, and indicates that the upper right corner should be coincident with the origin. This would seem to indicate that the top line would be against the Front plane, and the right side would be against the Right plane.
Step 3 sketches a diagonal line between midpoints.
Step 4 - dimensions
Step 5 extrudes UP from the sketch (top) plane.
Step 6 says to select the back face of the part to begin the second sketch. This appears to be the side against the Front plane.
Step 7 adds lines that should now be in the Front plane. The Hint says to rotate the view normal to the sketch plane by pressing the N key. Here's where things start to go wrong.

In this position and this view, the slant face of the extrusion is located to the right side of the object as seen in Step 6. However, the slanted line of the second sketch is on the left.
Step 8 extends the sketch... as do step 9 and 10.
Now in step 11, the new sketch is extruded across the top of the previous section, ("toward the front") and the illustration shows the slant faces on the same end of the object. But if you follow the steps as I have interpreted them, the slant faces are at opposite ends of the object.

I have gone over this several times. What am I missing?
Thanks!
