Ballooning an assembly apart

peter_hallpeter_hall Member Posts: 196 ✭✭✭
I have a project where I imported a step file (16 parts). I needed to ballon parts away from the assembled state which I did with copy transform and then set distances on either x , y or z axis at distances 500 , 750 , 1000 mm . (within a parts studio)  It worked effectively and led me to wonder if you could balloon an assembly apart in the parts studio in one go by choosing a distance to transform from the assembly which could use the origin point and existing angles as a reference point in some way. Just a thought.

@peter_hall I am not sure I understand what you are referring to?  Are you referring to exploding the assembly so it can be ballooned?  Are you trying to balloon the 3D model or a drawing of the model?

I suspect adding exploded views to parts and assemblies

I cannot show what I mean as subject to a NDA , exploding is a better term for it. If you imagine an assembly of ten plus parts, seperating them so they can be viewed individualy. It is ok I worked a method as explained above, just looking for a one click method of exploding the assembly.

@ peter_hall , If you are expecting exploded view option in assembly(As in other CAD software), presently Onshape don't have that capability. please see below link for discussion on exploded view.

If your requirement is to view the
individual part, you can achieve it by performing "hide other parts" option by right clicking the on part.
