Search All Feature Studios - name filter

jacob_kingeryjacob_kingery Member Posts: 39 EDU
In the new search all (Ctrl + Shift + f), it seems like the 'Feature Studio name filter' field doesn't work the way I expect.  For example, if you search for 'face' in the 'Find text' field in the standard library, you get a bunch of results.  Then, if you put 'shell' in the 'Feature Studio name filter' field, you get no results, but you do get results if you use 'shell.fs'.  The 'Find text' field seems to match substrings within words, but the name filter appears to only match complete names.  I was expecting the second field to behave the same as the first, so I was confused when I wasn't getting any results.

In the IDE's I use (Eclipse and Qt Creator), file filtering does a full match, rather than a substring match.  Would having the filter field be initially * (rather than empty) have provided the right hint?

Maybe, though it would override the field name which could be more confusing.  I also didn't realize that the filter field could use regular expressions even with 'Regex' unchecked (probably because the 'Regex' checkbox is to the right of everything; it seems like it would apply to both fields).

Ok, makes sense.  We'll iterate on the UX for this.  Thanks.
