Custom view for drawings rather than the standard Top/Bottom/Right/Iso

Is this possible?  It appears that only the standard views are available but sometimes the standard Isometric view does not show the assembly optimally but a slightly rotated up view would be better.

Thanks.

Yes, this can be achieved using Named views.

When I create a named view of the assembly, it does not show up as an available view orientation on the drawing.

I think I may have gotten named positions and display states confused with this.
    Much appreciated.

They are similarly named, it can be confusing. Don't forget to refresh your screen if you don't see the view listed. Also, if the drawing is referencing a separate document, you will need to press yellow update button in the drawing.
