Model around an imported STEP file

Hi, I want to design a part that are going to be fitted to a motor. I have a STEP file of the motor and have imported this into onshape. I am able to sketch and extrude etc. on this imported model, but I am stuck when I want to export only my addition to an STL file for 3d-printing.
Any tips on how to do this, is it even possible? Sorry of this is a noob question.

In the image below the orange highlight is the section I made and that I want to export to STL.

Thanks

Hi @georg_magneshaugen first of all: there is no noob question.

Make sure your own model is seperate from the import part. (click "new" instead of "add" in your extrude feature)

Then you click on the marked feature in the following image. Now you select your import part in the 3d area.
    Best regards,
