So suppose I a sketch and I make a line in it. How do I place that line at the intersection of that line and a surface?
For example, I want to make the line on the left touch the surface on the left side.

Also, how do I select a hidden line so I can make one of my other lines coincident with it? And how can I select a line from another part?

Try 'Use/Project' tool in sketch. It will allow you to pick up existing elements into your sketch.//rami0

You can use the pierce constraint to attach the end points of the rectangle to the surface edges.
