Hey all, I need help with my drawing. I extruded my part and wanted to make a groove in the center of the half circle so that a washer can fit nicely into it. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I want a rectangular shaped groove going from one side to the other along the curve. I hope I'm explaining myself well enough. My drawing is called Washerplacer, if that gives you a way to look at it. Thanks in advance for any help.

In the future you can just copy and paste the URL. If you're on the free account, it will already be shared publicly so others can access it. Is this the one? If so, is this what you're going for? https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9451a9271b91d90edced1e9b/w/512c68d480705261c60d3b5d/e/04e10bd670fd5da1d513b9e7

That's exactly what I'm looking for! I wish there was some way you could show me how you did that! Next time I will post the link, absolutely.

I suppose I could reverse engineer what you did there, haha

Also, thanks! Not sure why that escaped me!

No prob. Give the reverse engineering a try and let me know if you get stumped again. To be honest, this kind of stuff is definitely at the simple end for Onshape (or CAD in general), which is great news for you because it means there are lots of learning resources at this level. I recommend just watching some people model things on Youtube, even if it's not exactly what you're after. You'll absorb a lot.

Thanks, Evan. It's definitely a lot of fun! I will avail myself of the videos sometime this week when the kiddo and wifey give me time. At a glance it looks like you made another vertical sketch, extruded it, and hid it. Is that basically right?

yeah, pretty much. It hides it automatically once it's used, but you can always show it again if you like.
