Pattern and scale circles

Hi all,

I have an idea to create a lampshade from wooden strokes like in the images. I am not sure though how many wooden strokes and the distance between them. How can I best make this variable in a sort of pattern way and also making the half circles larger by a bit every time?

Hope you have some ideas!

Here's how I'd do it. I'm using the Circular Pattern feature set to "Feature Pattern" and I'm patterning a variable #i to increase every time the pattern loops, then using #i in some equations so each pattern instance is a little different. It's not a basic technique, but very powerful for things like this.
