Frame Library update - AISC HSS profile corrections to 2013 specifications

Jason_SJason_S Moderator, Onshape Employees, Developers Posts: 210
Hi all,

For everyone that uses the Onshape-supplied Frames profiles, you'll see `previous version` on your profile selection for AISC profiles the next time you open the Frames feature for a previously selected profile.

When the Frames library was authored, we made the thickness of the Rectangular and Square HSS profiles that of the design thickness of the standard. This design thickness is 93% of the nominal thickness.

In 2013 there was a change to model all HSS profiles as the nominal thickness instead of the design thickness: https://www.aisc.org/globalassets/aisc/hss--curved-steel/hss-flyer.pdf

For example, this is for Square HSS2X2X0.125, previously the thickness of the profile was 0.116in; it is now 0.125in. Representation of nominal size is now the case for all Square and Rectangular profiles.

Thanks to everyone that submitted feedback and corrected us on this. Those that reported the issues on this will be notified it has been fixed shortly.
