Boolean operations on parts in two different part studios?

So, I'm working on a project that requires me to combine several parts using boolean operations. Most of the parts imported into my main part studio, but a few of the parts are independent STEP files. I know that I could create an assembly, export as a combined STEP and then re-import into a single part studio, but this seems excessively convoluted. I would really like to be able to pull a part from one part studio into another part studio so that I can use the boolean operations with it. Is there a way to do this that I haven't figured out yet? If not, could I request that such a way be introduced? (i.e. give the option of dropping an imported object into an existing part studio instead of always creating a new part studio...?)
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you need to position the parts, you can use the SuperDerive custom feature with locations specified by mate connectors: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/cfef86ed4f9635531599a973/v/29cf6a737e1b0501f29207fd/e/305f5ce7d2fdb46e12881f6f
