[REQUEST] Add sketching to drawings to aid inspection callouts

Hello,

I'd like to request the addition of sketch capabilities in drawings to aid with inspection/tolerance callouts. This could be used to add things like inspection pins and dimensions on various features in a drawing.

In my case I have a part that features a V cut into it that will hold what is essentially a pin. I'd like to be able to sketch a gauge pin in the drawing, make it tangent to the two faces of the V, and dimension/GD&T to the center of the pin - controlling the position of the pin relative to datums directly.

Potential alternatives I've considered/tried:
Using a virtual sharp.
  • Difficult to measure/inspect.
  • Affected by the angular tolerance of the V itself.
Inserting sketch.
  • Only includes the sketch without the rest of the part.
  • Cannot dimension to the rest of the part (as it is another view that contains the actual part).
  • Sketch needs to be manually placed over a part.
Thoughts?

You can add sketches from the Part Studio to the drawing view (Right-click (1) > Show/hide(2) > Show sketches(3) ... then you add the pin sketch from the Part Studio). You can format the lines (using construction lines or directly) for increased visibility.

The sketch will be available for markup (dimensions, GD&T etc) to support inspection notation.
The sketch can be constrained in the Part Studio to preserve design intent.

So I figured out how to do this and thought I'd put the solution here for anyone else who is looking to do so.
    1. Create the sketch you want to include in your part studio.
    2. In the drawing, right click whatever view you want to insert the sketch.
    3. Click hide/show sketches.
    4. Select the sketch you want to include from the list.
