Question on ITEMS in a BOM. Linking an ITEM cost to quantity of ITEM used in different asm configs

I have included an ITEM in my Product Assembly. The Item is $x per cubic meter ($/m3)and is set as such in the ITEM properties £/part. In the configurations for the assembly, I have set the ITEM volume to a specific amount of volume for the different Assembly configurations.
How can I get the BOM to take this amount of volume and multiply it by the $/m3 to give the cost in the BOM.
