Trying to extrude teeth on a gear - nothing I try works

I can only extrude the inner circle.  All loops are closed....  What am I doing wrong???
 Any help appreciated!

The ends of the sprocket are not fully closed. you have an opening which will prevent the sketch from extruding.

You can also use the open sketch points feature script to locate sketches with open points.

In this case you are going to need to remove the circle that is away from the gear in sketch 1 or the feature script will not work properly. Once removed this is what shows up. the blue circles indicate the open sketch areas.

There are also a bunch of custom feature scripts which will build a gear for you without needing to do this.
