I want to sketch the following but have difficulties with the tapering

Are you talking about the legs having a taper on multiple faces? If so, extrude the leg as square first. Then, make a sketch on one face of the leg, and draw the area you want to remove. It will be a long triangle shape. Do not extrude it yet. Next, draw another sketch on the other face of the leg with a triangle there. Repeat for each face if necessary. Finally, extrude each sketch as a cut to remove the material.

This is if each face is a different taper. If they are the same taper, you can make one sketch and one extruded cut, then either mirror it if only 2 sides, or pattern it if the same on all 4 sides.

So far so good..I made the cuts on the legs..

but my question is: 

how do I build the whole drawing correctly?

Do I have to create all five individual parts in Part Studio? Or is it enough to draw the bench and one leg?  Do I have to create the mortises on the bench already in Part Studio or is there a way to do that in assembly.
