configuration variables vs variable studio.

hope this is the right place for feedback on functionality of OS?
The situation: If there is a configuration variable with the same name as a variable in the variable studio,
the studio varable will get overwriten by the configuration variable (to me, in assembly variables, this is DESIRED behaviour)
other studio variables that are then derived from this "overwritten studio variable" somehow do not work with the new value the studio variable got overwrittten with (confusingly?).

can either this get fixed (or better yet , make the studio variables accesible to (assembly) configuration variables. That would make an awesome tool)
