Help with a Boolean that won't resolve properly.

i am trying to make a 3 piece mold but my tool (part3) wont Boolean properly with target (part 4). I tried doing it again in part 5 but it still fails. can someone point me in the right direction.

    Part 4 seems to be a thin strip. I tried Boolean Adding part 3 and 4 and it seemed to work without an problems. If you uncheck the 'keep tools' box you should end up with one part
