Taking @richard_doyle's approach from the previous render battle, I decided to carefully wrap my entry in a nostalgic childhood memory.
https://cad.onshape.com/documents/8d565285fd7ea8ce6ab8a25e/w/e2923e5cd05f83dcb5d2e817/e/c874720754d6a...
Meet p.i.b. E102! This modified p.i.b. references the character E102 Gamma from the game Sonic Adventure for the Sega Dreamcast. Sonic Adventure holds some of my favorite childhood memories and is my #1 game of all time. And Gamma, is one of my favorite characters of the Sonic series.
"E-102 Gamma is a member of the E-100 series robots created by Dr. Robotnik (also known as Dr. Eggman), the main antagonist of the Sonic series. Gamma's story is a tale of self-discovery and redemption, as he breaks free from his initial programming to ultimately challenge the very creator he once served, showcasing the capacity for change and growth even within machines. Through his journey, Gamma highlights the themes of autonomy and the potential for good even in creations designed for destruction." - Chat GPT
It's only fitting that an AI wrote that last summary paragraph about an AI character from the 90's game (which uses AI characters) from which my AI p.i.b. is modeled after; which is in fact the AI that wrote that last paragraph.
Here are the same renders but in larger detail:

Richard
Thanks for getting us rolling @richard_doyle! Great idea. Let's see what others think.
I could imaging some studios of a retro stand up Jet-Ski, or perhaps a glass of ice cold lemonade, or a palm tree.

Another good idea. Might be neat to have the printer in there too.
@richard_doyle, do you have any specific item ideas in that theme?

- The ever popular "3DBenchy"
- The "Brain Gear"
- "The Android Guy"
- "The Elephant"
STL files would be available online for any of those.
Some other ideas:
- The best "multi-tech" render showing the differences in the various 3D printing processes in one part studio.
- The best "failed 3D print" render showing curl, z-axis errors, rats nest, trapped volumes, etc.
Looking forward to it!
Richard
I could see any of these working out @richard_doyle
@sebastian_glanzner, the topic voting will end August 19th. Whatever we all decide on will be provided as a public model so you won't have to model anything if you don't want to. This should make it a little easier to participate in.

We could use the 3D-printed appereance in Render Studio

@sebastian_glanzner, good suggestion.
@everyone If we go with the 3D print render, which machines should be available to have in the studio background? I have the Elegoo Mars II Pro resin printer, but it would be neat to give the option of having your own printers in there.

I just asked my buddies from the pib discord server to help me out and vote for the idea
You and everyone who is interested, can join our Discord server. We have a meeting today at 6:00pm CEST in the pib.Lab channel presenting news about the project:

We could also combine the ideas further

Let the rendering begin!
With 6 votes, PIB "printable intelligent bot" is the topic for this render battle. Thank you @sebastian_glanzner for this idea and for recruiting some fellow people to the forum. More people = more awesome!Pre-modeled document
Here is the pre-modeled document so you don't have to model from scratch. Make a copy if you like or insert into your own assembly without copying. Tip: Make sure the configurations "Show metal parts" and "Show electronics" are checked to see the entire bot.https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a5e4b1038a3f1772fc4f04b8/w/88ff7fb5119405acfdbd5540/e/31ed7b2c0b3fb7711a...
Rendering
Feel free to add anything you like to make your render more epic. Remember, this is a 3D printable robot, so bonus points if you use some 3D printed textures. Remember to use Onshape's render studio and to have fun!Submission date
Render submission date is anytime before September 19th 2023. Post your submissions here.Learn more about the Gospel of Christ ( Here )

PIB is constantly evolving, so inserting PIB in your assembly will give you the most up to date version.
There is also a configuration to change the colors of the eyes. If you want to change more, you can make a copy of PIB, but be aware, some PartStudio evolved into loooong chains of Features. We are going to simplifie them soon...
Hello everyone and @MichaelPascoe,
I have some updates to enhance the rendering experience.
We've added a configuration option to modify the neck. The standard neck is now named "Intermediate Neck 2-DOF". This version is not only simpler to assemble but also more straightforward to position in Onshape. The previous version, with three arms, is now named "Advanced 3-DOF". It remains in development until it's stable enough for real-life assembly. You can select the neck version you'd like to render.
In Onshape, all printed parts now have their material set to PETG. I've also ensured that every screw shares this consistent material designation in the Onshape BOM.
The tessellation for the exterior printed parts is designated as "Fine". All other settings remain on "Auto".
For those inserting the pib assembly into your documents, here are my suggested settings:
Ensure you select both "Show metal parts" and "Show electronics". All other options should remain unchecked for the rendering.
For importing your assembly in the Onshape Render Studio:
Given that pib is a sizable assembly with numerous components, utilizing the "Coarse" Tessellation quality ensures minimal polygon creation. Ensure the option "Use tessellation quality from part(s) appearance" is checked. This setting loads the exterior printed parts in "Fine" quality while all others are set to "Coarse".
I trust this will aid everyone participating in this rendering challenge!
Awesome! @sebastian_glanzner
That should make it quite a bit easier for people to render.
Almost done with the mods to pib for my render entry. I'm excited for this one.

🚀 Major Pib Update Alert!🚀
If you haven't caught a glimpse of pib in the past three days, well, you truly haven't seen pib! 😜
🔧 Elbow Enhancement: We've seamlessly integrated the motor directly inside the elbow. But that's not all - with our reimagined geometry, it now boasts a rotation capacity of up to 135°, up from the previous 90°! So, to all the creative minds participating in the render challenge: get ready to flex those imaginations and craft even cooler poses!
💡 Wires & Tubes 2.0: We've refined the design of the wires and tubes. Simply tick the checkbox to unveil them in all their upgraded glory.
Stay tuned for more updates and I can't wait to see the renderings!
