Changing a reference model in a drawing

patrick_sheapatrick_shea Member Posts: 63 EDU
With Solidworks we used to be able to create a drawing from a 'Reference Model' , give it a new name, then bring in the 'New Model', which was similar to the reference.  The Drawing would update, so you did not have to redraw.  It wasn't always perfect, but it  usually did save time.  Can we do something similar in Onshape?

You can do a "replace" on the drawing reference. All the views that use that reference will update. Dimensions and references will break but can be re-attached...

If you replace from the Sort by sheets view of the panel, then the replace will work just on that particular parent/child set of views and leave the rest.  If you replace from the Sort by references view of the panel, then replace will globally replace all references for the entire drawing with the one you select.
