Link part/assembly properties to drawing properties

leon_tullingleon_tulling Member Posts: 7
I want to link part or assembly properties to drawing properties automatically.
For example, if the part number of a part or assembly is '100-0001', I want the part number of the drawing also to be '100-0001'. Now, we have to do this manually, but I would like to have it done automatic.
I would like to do the same for name and description.

I allready have the part number uniqueness set, that the drawing can reuse the part number from an assembly or part.

Is there an option, featurescript or other solution for this?
I've tried to search for this on the forums/internet, but couldn't find anything usefull. Maybe I have used the wrong search criteria?

If I understand correctly, you are able to set up a drawing template or text box and import the part number based on the part or assembly. See the image,

This value is linked to the part code in the parts properties.

Just a FYI, the option you have selected will only allow you to create a drawing with the same part number as the part. I may be wrong but parts and assemblies would still need to have different part numbers

Yes, that all works like expected. But when I, for exampe, try to release a drawing it also needs a part number. I would like to have that the same as the part/assembly on the drawing.
So to take the image below as example, the red-bordered part number box of the drawing should, autmatically, be the same number as the part (000015)

Under the 'Numbering Schemes' section in settings, there is a box you can tick to allow this.

I've allready set that... (See original post)
This doesn't automatically set the drawing part number to the referenced part number though...

I’ve run into the same thing. I want my part and drawing to have the same PN and Title/Description. It’s a lot of hand typing or copy/paste.

What I did notice is if you assign the PN and description to the part, before creating the drawing, it at least pulls some information over to save some typing. But it doesn’t pull everything.
