combining selection

Hi,

I'm redesigning some legacy injection molded parts of which I only got the step files.
the change is pretty easy as in; moving some faces about. existing filets however are causing trouble. If I remove these, do the rework, and reapply the fillets, all is fine ;-)
only thing is there are a huge amount of fillets (on practically all of the edges obviously) and selecting them manually is really tedious and time consuming.
I havent figured out if and how I could combine "selections", main goal here would be havind sort of an AND  operation combining the different options in the selection window, in this particular case select all fillets AND of the same radius AND that are connected AND on same pocket feature... etc.  I'm guessing there might allready be a FS tool made for this, if so please kindly direct me to it.

Selecting all radii at once, doesn't work sadly/off course.

Selection Fillet by @Evan_Reese will add fillets based on a selection.

    Thanks @S1mon
Edit: Removing multiple fillets should be possible with FeatureScript, but I didn't see any already made. There is Modify fillet like Evan mentioned.

Selection Fillet is great for adding fillets, but @stvnvl_8501 is looking to modify or delete existing imported fillets.

Parasolid/Onshape is pretty good at recognizing imported fillets, but as you've probably discovered, it doesn't always work.

Depending on what changes you need to do, it might be best to delete all the existing ones, even if you need to do it in groups. With simple shapes you can sometimes just delete a bunch of fillets and "Heal" with "Delete fillet faces" will work, but sometimes it's better not to use "Delete fillet faces" and be very methodical about deleting fillets. Try deleting all the ones that are at the tops of the pockets, then all the vertical fillets, and then all the ones at the bottoms of the pockets. Create selection can be useful, but keep in mind you can do a lot with window selection from the right views in hidden line mode.

    • I assume you've already tried this, but make sure you're checking "reapply fillet" in your Move Face features. It might just work as-is.
    • If not, look into the Modify Fillet tool native to Onshape with it set to "Remove fillet". It's a bit smarter about removing them than delete face, though you may find a combo works best.
    • If you do end up removing them and needing to add them back afterward then my Selection Fillet feature could be really helpful, as Micahel suggests.

Ah yes. I had almost forgotten about using Modify Fillet to remove, even though I posted about it previously. Here's a discussion with some of that detail:

I was intrigued by the question and was working through a sample to see what would happen. Was giving me some problems with selection sets on the fillets. After reading responses, I went back and tried again. Still had some problems with selection sets of fillets. Separate selection sets of fillets seem to be needed to accommodate. Once that was done, move face worked well, then make new fillets, The move face didn't seem to work well before deleting fillets.

    Hi.
Thanks for the swift and thorough responses. Will look into this.
It isn't (only) about how to remove fillets though, I'm aware of the delete face and heal option, and now I'm also reminded about the fact the modify fillet has a "remove" option. As said, this worked  (if I selected the fillets inone by one in smaller groups, in the right order, using the reverse logic they were once added, more or less)
The issue I was trying to adress is with the selection tool. (see image in first post) Which lets you select geometry depending on certain parameters. to speed up things I would really like to combine these "conditions" for a selection. what I essentially would need here  is a tool that let's you select 'all adjacent (or connected) faces' that are 'of type fillet' (if I'm streching it maybe even of 'same radius')  this would allouw me to basically select a "loop" of connected fillet surfaces to then delete. There are other scenarios I can think of where a combination of the available selection criteria can speed up things.
Anyway, It isn't that huge of a deal. A cup of coffee and an hour work plowing through will also let me get rid of the fillets.
    Thanks again for the help!

Let us know if you end up doing this every day. I know a great team that loves to write custom features. B)

What we really need is a "parametric selection mode" for the selection tool so that you can create selection like in the selection fillet tool for use anywhere in Onhsape... Ideally it would be its own "feature" so that you can use that selection in different places.

Yes! I've thought about writing a "Query" feature for this, but to make it play nice with other features would mean I'd have to fork them all and tweak their code, which is a non-starter. Something like this is by far best handled by Onshape natively.
