slicing issue

steve_gladdingsteve_gladding Member Posts: 7
I'm a week into using Onshape so appologies if this is very basic but it is driving me crazy.
I have a drawing I have sliced down the centre but there seems to be an error in the sketch line of the slice.
Everything look perfect but then when I send the STL file to my slicer program I get part of the sliced faces slightly out of line.
Hope this makes sence but if not here is my drawing https://cad.onshape.com/documents/6851a6d087891cf58cd20b7b/w/ab41cb3ed0542794fc1f7bf2/e/877c8497461a023ab6343a25?renderMode=0&uiState=64fee0abdcb1805b0afc7b3a

    Hey @steve_gladding,

Could you send a screenshot or mark something in your Onshape document where you have issues with the slicing?
My bet is, it is happening it the areas where you have super small steps (<0.1mm), not sure how precise your printer is but fairly sure this precision wouldn't print.

I have seen quite a few faces that are not parallel or perpendicular to others but looking at the design I think this would be the intend. Maybe have a look and try to tidy up the planes faces a bit. Try to keep the distance within the range of what your printer can achieve (probably ˜0.2mm for FDM?)

I have added a few screenshots where I see issues.

    Hope this helps.
Any other questions, let me know. Cheers

Something was changed ahead of sketch 5 that makes coincident ends of lines invalid. Same for sketch 11. I got this to drop the error but not sure if the lines are in the required position any more. When an object is changed by replacing sketch entities instead of moving them the ID of the following geometry gets a new ID and can cause a failure for what uses the old ID. Better to relocate sketch entities than replace if you can.
