How do I take a part of a ball off?

I am VERY new to 3d modeling and I am trying to make a pumpkin but I don't know how to make the flat part of the ball. Could anyone help me with this?

Hi @josh_diamond761 welcome to Onshape!
There are several ways to subtract material from a part. Boolean subtract is one way.
As far as pumpkins go, here is an alternative way you could make one using Loft and Circular pattern:
