Custom "Length" property feature script and importing cut list data to BOM

Hello! New user to OnShape here - coming from Solidworks
I am trying to populate a "length" custom property with a length variable in FeatureScript and I'm not having much success. The custom feature isn't showing any errors, but isn't populating the property with a value. The custom property is set up as a value with units and categorized as a length. Should it just be a value with units or just an integer?
I was also wondering if it would be possible to transfer properties in a cut list generated by the frame tool (length, description, part number, etc) to the parts themselves so I can bring that info into a BOM.
