Changing sketch and updating assemblies

paul_bartlettpaul_bartlett Member Posts: 91 ✭✭
I am trying to change the Sketch 1 dimension 31.5 deg to different degrees between 30 and 32 deg to see what works best for my final assembly. The Sub assembly and full assembly do not seem to update so I have to redo them every time. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?   https://cad.onshape.com/documents/bd3bdac792bd09f8ef7bb525/w/032186bb3776d7d38ae874f6/e/fd30a5678700adc1b087b76e

One of the simpler ways to accomplish what you're looking for is to make a variable studio. The piece of ribbon is based on variables. You can open the variable table for editing in the part studio and assembly. You'll want to figure out how to calculate the variables in the table to make all fit or you may be there longer trying to get close. Try changing table variables while in the assy and watch what happens. It may help to be able to visualize what the calculation need to be.
A side note, check your mates in the original assembly. They look crooked. You'll see I added mate connecters on the ribbon piece and made sure the axis' were aligned to suit edges of the part. Requires less zooming to find the faces in assy.

    Hope this helps.

Thank You Glen this is exactly what I wanted. I added 2 more pieces and to the ribbon and all works very good. I would like to some how be able to center the complete assembly on the Center point to locate the sphere that will be going in the assembly. Not really necessary as I will do it when I build the assembly in the shop. File to Fit,  Fit to function,

If you show the sphere in part studio you can build directly from it for your ribbons.
