Part Orientation within CAM Studio

scott_harrisscott_harris Moderator, Onshape Employees, csevp Posts: 66 image
How do you orient the part within the view after it is in CAM studio? It initially inherits the WCS from the Onshape coordinate system but can this be changed?

Thanks,
Scott

I started creating a new parts studio for each machined part named MACHINING_"part name". I then bring in the part as a derived part. This keeps the stock and machining tools (jaws/soft jaws/vacuum plates) from cluttering up my design. A work around would be to do the same thing then to just translate the part to where you want it for machining.

The veiws would still only work for op1. They need a drop down list of setups.

@scott_harris The part cannot be transformed from within cam studio today. The setup has a "transform" but this is a temporary fix to allow users to adjust the part positioning relative to the machine table when simulating. The setup changes the machining direction but the part will respect the Onshape coordinate system.
