How do I add cones to this project?

Hello everyone, I'm new here and new to CAD in general. I've been working on this incense cone mold tray for another project/hobby, but when it came the time to add the cone shells in the circles, I couldn't figure out a way to do it. I know how to make a cone in a part studio tab, but I don't know how to combine the parts to gather. The cones are meant to be 6 cm tall with a small toothpick-sized hole at the tip for ease of extraction and ventilation/drying. Any help would be appreciated!

You will want to learn how to create and assembly. Bring in the tray and one incense cone mated to a corner hole then generate an array of cones to match the tray.

Thanks for tip! I'm not sure how to do that in the way I want, though. Will it allow me to merge the parts together into one final shape/part?

I you want all to become 1 part, then derive the cone into the part studio with the tray. You'll likely have to reposition by translating then make sure they overlap so you can Boolean after making the array. Would be better to make all parts in 1 part studio.

Are you trying to make the holes in the tray a special shape? And you want to use a second "part" to cut (or add) that shape into the tray? If so, draw that second "part" in the tray's part studio. Then pattern it to all the holes, using either add or subtract depending on the shape you are after. No need to make an assembly of the two "parts" if that is your final goal.

Also it looks like you must have drawn a bunch of circles, or did a sketch pattern, to create the holes. Something like this is probably better to make one hole only. Then add the special shape you are after. Then pattern that using the pattern feature, rather than the sketch feature. Its easier for the computations behind the scenes.

It occurs to me that you may be looking to provide a single source name and part# for shipping.
That is best provided as an assembly. Not merged together. Best option is the intro through the learning center and it's free.

You may try to reduce the number of steps required like this, and at the same time get configurable number of cone holes:

In this sample I created one hole in a base block element, then used 2 patterns to create a deliberate number of blocks with holes in X and Y direction.

I managed to figure it out before seeing this comment, but I appreciate it regardless! Turns out all I needed was to discover the derive tool. Didn't know that such tool could be so useful ^ ^;

I'm finished with project now and I even added little struts for support. Anyone can print it now and try it if they're into incense making. Feedback would be appreciated!

I'm relatively new to OnShape too. This looked like a fun learning project. I tried to do it in as few steps as possible for the same / similar result. Here's my take on your incense tray. I tried to mimic the same dimensions as your posting. I did use variables so things can be changed easily like cone length, cone opening dimensions, and number of rows and columns.
