Version or Release

Merged existing part in new assembly. Why does the existing part that was released go to a new version?

    Versions are per Document, not per Part. If you want the Part to maintain it's Version, it would have to be in it's own Document

    Is the part studio and assembly in the same document? If the part in question is "released" to a number or letter rev, you can right click on the part in the asm feature tree to set it to releases (the triangle) in the version graph section. Then the asm will have the officially released part, and if the entire document gets a new version, the asm will still reference the "released" revision.

    Version = whole document
    Revision (release management in Professional and Enterprise plan) = is per part, per asm, or per 2d drawing.
