Assembly won't move into place with a second mate. Both mates become corrupted.

A link to the document would sure help. When building a dodecaedron, however, the only mate conditions possible to be applied at the faces corners appear to be ball joints.Works for me, in principle:
My pentagons are flat surfaces, though. The bevels might do someting to the edge lenghts, and cause inconsitencies. It might be important to keep the basic pentagon edges from the sketch unmodified in the model until the end.

Thanks for your response. I've included a link to my work below.
I was able to mate two pentagons by making certain that they shared the same plane. Then I used a circular assembly to complete half of a dodecahedron. However, I can't put two halves together. It appears that the parts don't want to mate if they require a scalene movement. If that makes any sense.
Stepping back, this link is two simple pentagons that won't mate. Thank you, again.

Unfortunately, the link is not leading to the document, but a dodecaedron should be feasible by ONLY constrainig (mating) the corners points in relative position, NOT angle. Every other geometry introduced is not necessary at all and will rather lead to problems.

Not all pentagons here
And no bevels
But maybe this will help some being as it is using rounded panels and not ones that are purely flat as appears to be your case with the bevel
For the record — the method to make the panels rounded as shown in the part studio, was something I saw @john_mcclary do, which I thought was pretty slick
