Imperfect rounded edges in STEP export.
As far as I understand, one of the benifits of using something like STEP over something like STL or WRL, is that you get real rounded edges. However, when I just tried exporting my model, I just ended up with a circle that looks like it was made out of polygons, and at a rather low resolution at that. I am just using it as a sanity check / for rendering of parts on my PCB, for which, I guess this is fine, but I can't imagine this being okay for actual machining purposes, so surely there is a better way right? Is there maybe some hidden export setting, or something wrong with the extrude, or center point circle tools I'm using?
I tried all 3 versions of STEP, and I tried opening the created STEP file in both kicad and freecad, and all of those combinations seem to yield those jagged edges.
Here is the actual project:
And I also attached the STEP file (inside of a .zip, because the forum doesn't allow uploading STEPs).

Right click the part > appearance of part > tessellation quality to very fine.
Alternatively, you can drop down the view options over on the right and enable high quality mode.

I did however find the actual solution, and it was essentially the equivalent of your solution, but in the software which which I was viewing the exported STEP file through. So there was nothing wrong with the step file, just that both kicad and freecad render it at low tessellation by default. Now I am just surpised that so many pieces of software set the default so low, and that kicad doesn't have an option for this, .
