If I want to make this object lighter, but I don't want to change the structure.

    @timothy_lee301, an important first step is to precisely define what you mean by don't "change the structure".  Specifically, what are the function- critical faces, features, or attributes that must be preserved.  The next thing to consider is how you envision manufacturing or fabricating this part. 

    Armed with the answers to those queries, start removing material.  CAD tools at your disposal include "shell" (i.e. hollowing), cut-extrude, cut-revolve, etc.  Be ruthless.
