Keyboard shortcuts for moving solids when in assembly view

I'd like to use the arrow keys to move along the principal cursor axes. It would be a lot nicer when I'm trying to precisely position something than having to click/drag/enter number.

Currently, using the keypad just rotates the view in 3D (which is almost useless to my workflow, but I recognize not necessarily to others'). Plus, keypad only has two axes whereas for the drag cursor we'd need all three.
Is such a thing possible?
