Split Object Using Spline?

Hi all,
I'm struggling to figure this one out. I need to make a curved cut to an abnormal shape and the most obvious way to me would seem to be to use a spline (which I've successfully drawn) to cut the shape, but neither the extrude (remove) or split functions seem to be able to utilize the spline I created. Can anyone provide guidance on how to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much for the guidance! This is definitely going in the direction I'm looking for. However, I'm noticing that this process creates a sort of divot near the apex of the curved spline. Any way I can keep that from happening and have the angle be consistent?
