2D drawing import - which format is best SVG, DWG, DXF, PDF ...

Hi, I currently use Illustrator and have some complicated images which I would like to turn into solids. What is the best format to start with?  Thank you

    Typically you're going to export to DXF from Illustrator. Depending on how complex your Illustrator stuff is, you may need to ungroup and/or explode the compound paths. Any text which is in a font will need to be converted to outlines. When you export, you have options for the DWG version. You may need/want to dumb that down to an older one. At least I found that necessary in the past with Solidworks.
