how to add parts to a document

Hi all,
new to cad but going thought the training and learning a lot. using the free version.

one thing I am currently looking for for a small project i want to start is adding a part like a bearing, to a shaft that i design in OnShape. I know there is a concept of adding existing parts to your assembly like standard screws and bearing and other static components, but can't figure out how to actually do it.

Thanks

Have a look at the McMaster-Carr website. There you will find many CAD parts that you can download and import into Onshape

too bad onShape can't edit or convert a mesh to a solid for editing. thats what I wanted to do but instructions and videos are very scaresed.
Onshape can do some editing of mesh models like cutting away material or adding to them.
However mesh models are inherently "imprecise" and if you want a bearing model, a STEP file downloaded from McMaster (or a number of other available sources) is a much better option.

Standard content like nuts, bolts, and screws can be adding through Standard Content.

For other types of content, just use Import , the plus sign in the lower left.  Onshape will import:
    • Parasolid mesh (a zip file containing an x_t and an xmm_txt, or a zip containing an x_b and an xmm_bin, or an x_b file) from v28.0 to v35.1 (view and reference meshes only, unable to edit a mesh)
    • Parasolid mixed model, representing mesh and B-rep, in the form of a zip file containing an x_t and an xmm_txt, or a zip containing an x_b and an xmm_bin, or an x_b file from v32.0
    • ACIS (.sat) up to 2023 1.0
    • STEP (.stp or .step) AP203, AP214, and AP242 (geometry and face color only)
    • IGES (.igs or .iges) up to 5.3
    • CATIA v4 from 4.15 to 4.24 (via an Assembly .zip file)
