Is it currently possible to align a model to the ground in Render Studio?

matt_denardomatt_denardo Member Posts: 5
I see how to enable ground and set the height. However, I'd like a different face of my model to be on the ground. How do I do this in Render Studio? Alternately, can I orient my model in an assembly studio so or place a mate connector that is referenced to ground?

You can either re-orient your model in your source Part Studio or Assembly as you suggest, however you can only set the ground height either manually by entering the height numerically or automatically which will always use the lowest point (in Z) of the geometry. Or alternatively you can select the top level instance in the scene graph of your Render Studio scene and in the property panel you can see a Transform which can be changed to rotate the whole scene if you prefer to re-orient it there instead.

I recommend creating another assembly only for the rendering, and maybe put the whole existing assembly in it. You can then move the current assembly to whatever position you need without misplacing it in it's actual state.

I'm a bit confused. The automatic height setting doesn't seem to work for me. Despite only importing a part, is it using sketches from the part studio, or earlier states of the part to get the bounding box?

@Jonathan_Hutchinson this would be a bug, if you can file a ticket and share a document that reproduces it that would be useful. I have seen it at least once before but we did not have a reproducible case for it yet. I tried with a simple sketch that went below my model but this didn't reproduce it for me.
