Design Challenge - Digital Sundial
I don't even know how I ran across this, but it is cool - a sundial that displays the time digitally:
The creator used OpeSCAD to model the parts. Everything is open source, but Onshape doesn't import OpenSCAD files and the stl files are just that, stl.
Here's the challenge, reverse engineer this in Onshape with the logic and option to change or add to the display. Simple things such as AM/PM are the first step, but GOOD MORNING/GOOD AFTERNOON, SIESTA! or just something fun are the real goal.
Here is a link to the story: http://3dprint.com/103289/open-source-3d-print-sundial/
and to the downloadable files: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1068443/#files
This should prove not only a good design challenge, but an interesting learning exercise. Enjoy.
Happy New Year!
