what is the propoer way to make a revolve but along a path, rether than around an axis?

ol_loool_loo Member Posts: 15
So, i want to make a doming around the path, i drew a profile, however the revolve tool only allows me to specify an axis, but i would need to specify a path too (highlighted). So revolve does not seems the way to go, can anyone advise on the best way to achieve what i try to do?

@ol_loo One way.... create a vertical construction line coincident to the Origin on either the Front or Right plane.   That then becomes the Axis for your Revolve....

OR... just use the vertical line of your profile sketch as the axis!

@ol_loo Another way is to SWEEP the profile along the path you've created

@john_lopez363 sadly not, the sweep definitely deosnt work and the revolve does not follow the outline path.

@ol_loo.... then it sounds like you need to use the Loft Feature using the profile sketch as a Guide

Loft can use a point as a profile too, and you can set the end condition of that point to "Tangent to sketch plane".

Alternatively, you could use the Fill feature selecting the spline shape, then adding a point as a guide. Making either of these perfect can be fiddly though.

Btw for the Swept example above, I'm guessing one of the profile curves was swept along the other one, then the extra surface was trimmed away.
