Standard content search by PartNumber

Hi,
is there a way to insert standard content parts searching them with their PartNumber? As company we manage all of them by part number and it's not immediate to fill all the drop down lists everytime.

This happens to be the biggest issue with my users. It has lead to duplicate vendor part numbers being assigned one of our internal part numbers twice. I hesitate to lock down and limit the users but it seems that is the way to force them to search our PLM (Arena) before downloading and assigning new numbers. I have tried creating alternative
ways to get around this but searching would be ideal.
