Feature Circular Pattern with a sketch

Hey everyone, I'm trying to recreate something this style. I think I understand the process of creation but I get stuck implementing it in onshape. I think it should go like this:

1. Create the body shape you want
2. Get intersection curve between body and front plane
3. Make a small circle sketch in the top plane (bottom of the shape), circle should be placed on edge of projection of shape to bottom plane
4. Sweep circle across the intersection curve
5. Feature Circular pattern steps 2-4 across body

this works for me until step 5, If I were to do it manually 100 times it would work but for some reason the circular pattern fails saying that "Sketch dimensions and constraints using the Origin or the default planes as reference will not be reapplied.", I have reapply features on and the curves get generated as they should, but the stripes don't get created like the first one.

Thanks for any help I'm really stuck.

It would be much easier to create a loft or boundary surface with the right flow of U/V and then use the new(ish) Isoparametric curve feature to sweep a shape. Then pattern that.

It's hard to tell from the photo what the cross-sections of this actually look like, but I'm sure this could be done in Onshape.
