Revolve like extrude???

sophia_velliossophia_vellios Member Posts: 5 EDU
I'm having an issue with getting this to curve. I thought it would be simple and work as a revolve/sweep, but it isn't.  How do I round this to look like this?

For a revolve feature you essentially sketch half and then spin it around an axis.
To get that beak you could extrude the sketch you have then fillet the corners off or look at a sweep perhaps?

Have you tried the self paced courses? (Click on the head icon in the top right of your onshape window)

Here is a link to the Onshape learning pathways which have the self paced courses @Ste_Wilson mentioned. The feature you are probably looking for is Loft.
And here is a link to Blender. Modeling things like creatures are much easier with mesh modeling (Blender) instead of solid modeling (Onshape). B)

Just because some organic shapes may be easier to accomplish in blender does not make it the best tool for the job. If you were trying to bring this to the physical world, then tools like center of mass, surface area, and weight is easier to extract if the shape was made in a parametric CAD system so what she needs is a little guidance on accomplishing what @sophia_vellios was asking for in the first place: Would be happy to show the steps if interested and yes a simple loft like @MichaelPascoe mentioned could be used as well as a "fill" with some guide curves as well. Pretty easy once someone shows you this simple technique.

My engineering class uses this program, so I do have a bit of experience with it. I'll try doing those as separate parts, thank you.

Ooh okay thank you so much @MichaelPascoe and @afalzate13 :DD I have started this project due to deadlines and am currently working on rig testing, but i'll definitely look into that in the future as I do want to make more things like this while I have access to the 3D printers.
