Dimensions that ignore chamers

Hi --
Fairly new to Onshape so this might be an easy one I dunno, but I'm using Onshape to model woodworking projects and I like to put little chamfers on my pieces and I'm not super fussy about the actual size of these chamfers. A few swipes of a block plane and some sanding and there ya go. But, while I do like the ability to show a slight chamfer on all the outside edges of my model, I don't really care about what the dimensions are. More specifically, when I go to put dimensions in a drawing of a final assembly (or even an individual part) I'd like to be able to ignore the chamfer and have my dimensions reveal the invisible edge to edge numbers. i.e., measurements between the sharp edges before chamfers are applied. Does that make sense what I'm asking? If so, is there an easy way to do this?

Happy to answer clarification questions or share an example if it's not clear. Thanks for any help y'all can provide!

Joe

When dimensioning in a drawing you can pick whichever corners you like for the dimension so just pick the two outside corners of the part.

    Try the tutorial on drawing.

The option you are looking for is "virtual sharps":

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to reply. While I'm new, I'm quite a bit a bit beyond that tutorial in my skills but perhaps not so much in describing the problem. :-) I understand the basics of dimensioning and get that I can pick whatever corners I want to dimension to, but I'm trying to dimension to a corner that is no longer there because of the chamfer -- it is now an implied or virtual corner. It's like I want an option that "finds the intersection" and dimension to that instead of the points that are available to me with the chamfer in place. Make sense?

Yepp, that's a virtual sharp. In that case, the option lets you select the two lines that - if extended to their intersection - would lead to excatly the point you want to dimension and creates that point:

Virtual sharp! Yes. Thank you, Martin. That's exactly the functionality I was looking for. :-)
