Poor rendering quality

dave_franchinodave_franchino Member Posts: 52 ✭✭
Howdy folks, I'm still flailing at using Onshape render studio. I've rendered an image but the smooth arcs on circular surfaces are coming out hugely faceted, even though I have rendering quality set for production.  The base in the following rendering should be a smooth cylinder.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

@dave_franchino it is covered in the documentation here. You access it by right clicking the Assembly, Part Studio or Part in the scene list and selecting the Tessellation option. As suggested since most of your Assembly has smooth rounded features you will probably just want to set the tessellation on the entire Assembly in your specific case.

You need to change the tessellation quality of the part to very fine.

I just had the same issue. I learned that the tesselation setting is now in the scene list at the left of you screen: Right-Click on E.G the list item of the base of your product to invoke the context menu, then at the bottom, select tesselation ... it hangs sometimes, though. In your case, with everything rounded, I'd just set the whole ASSY to fine tesselation.

     - this makes sense but can you tell me where to find that and how to adjust it? Is that done in the part studio - the assembly or in the render studio space? I currently have a part studio where I did the design which I inserted into an assembly that my render studio is based on. The documentation seems to imply that I can select the performance icon on the left side - but it doesn't seem to have a tesselation option.

Thanks and sorry to be needy.

It worked if I set the tessellation on each part. I set the overall assembly to the highest level of tessellation but the parts underneath remained in  "auto" and didn't update to finer tessellation until I changed them manually.  but it did work. Thanks!

Just to note there are definitely a couple of bugs related to tessellation not updating dynamically in the current version which will be corrected in the next release.
