Hiding a sketch from an assembly - answered

I have a sketch in an in-context part studio. To use that sketch for mates in the assembly, to my knowledge, you must mate that sketch to something.
My issue is that when I return to the in-context part studio, that "mated in-assembly sketch" cannot seem to be turned off / hidden. It overrides all my selections in the in-context part studio - even if it is hidden in the assembly...
answer: right click on a sketch element (a line, circle, etc) and click hide "in-context-instances"
-> still posting this because it might help someone with googling & maybe it should be more obvious idk...
