3D to 2D dwg

Hello,

I have a model of a large weldment project. The architect asked to send him a 2D .dwg file of the model so he can implement them into his drawings.  
I can create sketches in different sections of the model and use the Use tool. But this will either create a lot of duplicate lines or will require a time consuming and a tedious, careful selection of line by line.

Any other ideas on how to achieve this?

One way to accomplish what customer wants is to use a custom format for a drawing and export as DWG. that can be imported then cut and paste as they see fit.
