extrude switches from new to add without user input

I have noticed a strange behavior. not sure if bug or intended. When I am extruding a sketch, it will switch between "New" and "Add" settings without ever selecting the option. This seems to happen when changing some of the other settings in the dialog. This is pretty annoying as I have many times confirmed that the setting is what I want, only to have the resulting extrude be different than what I expected, and then have to go back and re-set it. This is especially annoying if I have added a lot of features before noticing, and now all the references are broken when changing the extrude type.
